|Using an old beat up 1880's trunk, I completely stripped
it down to the bare wood and started over. Since it was originally
covered in leather I recovered it using upholstery leather in three
different colors, burnt red, black and brown down the middle. Too many
of the original brass tacks were missing so I improvised and used all
|The hardware patent date, (Dec.1877) is still visible on
some of the cast steel hardware. We managed to find a key for the lock
and it works fine, just not suitable as a strong box.
|The interior is covered in a plum colored fabric and has
been fitted with a new 3 compartment tray with removable felt
liners. The two compartments on the ends can be used to store
( 15" high ) x ( 16" wide ) x ( 30" long
